I got this Maybelline Primer & Foundation from Influenster, which was also my first box from them! I was super excited to receive it, however I’ve been so busy I haven’t really had time to sit down and try it out for myself. I’ve seen pretty decent reviews about both products on Influenster but I decided it was finally time to try it out for myself!

Everything I used for my face today was as pictured:

  • Maybelline FitMe! foundation
  • Maybelline Master Prime primer
  • Too Faced White Chocolate Eyeshadow Palette
  • Urban Decay primer potion for eyelid
  • Colourpop highlighter in Felicity
  • Anastasia Beverly Hills brow brush & brow powder in taupe
  • The Kiss lip scrub
  • Becca Flowerchild blush and champange pop highlighter
  • Diorshow mascara in black
  • Kat Von D tattoo liner in black
  • Marc Jacobs gel liner in black

Here is my absolute bare face, 15 minutes after waking up from my alarm for reference: (sorry)

Master Prime

I’m one of those people who really doesn’t trust drugstore primer, as I’ve never really seen them actually do their job. (At least the ones I’ve tried thus far!) SO, I didn’t have that high of expectations for this. However, after comparison I noticed that the redness initially in my face went down drastically! This primer feels kind of sticky though, which wasn’t the greatest. According to Ulta’s website this primer is suppose to refine the look and feel of skin and keep makeup in place from morning to night. Benefits include:

  • Helps smooth and even out skin tone and prolong the look and wear of makeup
  • Weightless and non-oily makeup primer
  • Formulated to target a range of specific skin concerns
  • Wear alone or under foundation

So I would definitely say it helped smooth and even out my skin tone! It also retails for $9.99 from Ulta – not bad at all! You also don’t need a large amount of this stuff either to get the job done, which is a plus!

Fit Me Dewy + Smooth Foundation

Okay, so now here is my face WITH the primer and foundation:

foundationface

So according to Ulta, this foundation “blends seamlessly for light to medium, natural coverage that leaves skin the way it was meant to be – fresh, breathing, flawless. The exclusive translucent base and lightweight pigments allow skin’s natural highs and lows to show through.

Benefits:

  • Non-comedogenic (won’t clog pores) and dermatologist tested
  • Protects with SPF 18 (for all shades except Toffee and Mocha)
  • Shade-true gel foundation merges with your natural tone
  • Darker shades specifically formulated for women of color, with no ashiness”

It retail for $7.99 from Ulta. I used a beauty blender to blend out this foundation, initially just tapping my finger into the bottle and dabbing it on my face. Shake the bottle first, though!! This foundation feels kind of sticky at first, or it could still be the primer, but other than that I felt it shockingly blended well with my skin tone and did give off and slightly dewy look! Overall I’d definitely say this is a nice drug store pick up! I’ll be using it on days where I don’t feel like using my Tarte foundation, but still want slightly more coverage than my powder Too Faced foundation would give!
